I just got the templar armour, and i do know that you would only be able to have one buff at a time (such as choosing between templar and mayan armour buffs),. Most of the outfits players can unlock in black flag can be crafted or purchased from a merchant. A few of the outfits listed below are dlc content or rewards. Maybe i'm not far along.
